Face-to-face, phone or video in Dumbarton

For short, urgent conversations in Dumbarton (a GP receptionist call, a doorstep statement, an emergency department triage), telephone Acholi interpreting is on demand and connects within minutes. For longer or more sensitive appointments (a contested hearing, a mental-health assessment, a customer meeting), face-to-face in Dumbarton is worth the extra time it takes to confirm. Video works well when the parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.

How long it takes to confirm in Dumbarton

Telephone Acholi is on demand. Face-to-face appointments in Dumbarton can usually be confirmed within a few hours. Less common Acholi dialects benefit from a day or two's notice; that's normally enough to get you the strongest interpreter rather than the only available one.

How to book or hire a Acholi interpreter in Dumbarton

Send us the date, the venue and the type of appointment. We come back with the interpreter and a price (usually within the hour during UK office hours), and once you confirm, the linguist works the assignment. Pay-as-you-go, monthly invoicing, or to a PO if your accounts team need that.

Our Acholi interpreters in Dumbarton work in both directions, consecutively (most appointments) or simultaneously where the setting calls for it. Acholi interpreting in Dumbarton: FAQs

How much does a Acholi interpreter cost in Dumbarton?

Cost depends on the language, the type of appointment, how long it is and how much notice you can give. There isn't a single hourly figure that's honest across NHS, legal and private work in Dumbarton. Send the basics through the quote form and we'll come back with a price.

How do you pick the right interpreter for my Dumbarton appointment?

We match on three things: subject experience (an NHS booking goes to a Acholi interpreter who has worked in NHS settings, not just any interpreter), Acholi dialect, and availability for your time and place in Dumbarton. If you have a preferred linguist from a previous job, we'll try them first.

Can you cover urgent / same-day Acholi requests in Dumbarton?

Telephone Acholi is on demand. For face-to-face in Dumbarton, same-day is often possible for the more common languages; for less common dialects, give us a day's notice if you can and we'll get you the right person.

About the Acholi language

Acholi is a Western Nilotic language of the Luo group, spoken mainly in northern Uganda in the area around Gulu and Kitgum known as Acholiland, and across the border in parts of South Sudan. Estimates put speaker numbers at around 1.5 million, though figures vary. It is closely related to Lango and Alur in Uganda and more distantly to Dholuo in Kenya, with a fair degree of mutual understanding among neighbouring Luo varieties. Acholi is tonal, so pitch helps distinguish word meanings, and it is written in the Latin alphabet. The language carries a strong oral tradition of songs, proverbs and storytelling. English is Uganda's official language and many Acholi speakers are bilingual, but Acholi remains the language of home, local radio and church across the north of the country.
