300+ languages, covered by qualified UK linguists

From Polish and Urdu to Herero and Nuer, browse the full list of languages we translate and interpret across the UK.

Prism Linguistics works in more than 300 languages and dialects. That includes the languages UK organisations need every day, such as Polish, Urdu, Romanian, Punjabi and Arabic, and the rarer ones that are genuinely hard to find a qualified linguist for. Whatever the language, the standard is the same: native speakers, matched to the subject, and a second linguist checking written work.

The full A to Z is below. Each language links through to our interpreting and translation services for that language. If the one you need is not listed, it does not mean we cannot help, so do get in touch.

Where we are different

The rare languages most agencies cannot source

Plenty of agencies can cover the top 30 languages. We cover those, and also the rare African and Asian languages that UK courts, councils and immigration solicitors regularly need.

Z

The same standard, whatever the language

A long language list only means something if the quality holds up across all of it. Ours does, because the way we work does not change with the language.

Every translator is a native speaker of the language they translate into, and works in subjects they know. Every written translation is checked by a second qualified linguist before it reaches you. Every interpreter is matched to the setting, whether that is a GP appointment, a court hearing or a business meeting, and to the right dialect, because dialect can change everything.

If you are not certain which language or dialect a person speaks, that is a common situation and one we can help with. Tell us what you know and our team will usually work it out.

Questions people ask

Languages FAQs

How many languages does Prism Linguistics cover?
We work in more than 300 languages and dialects. That covers the languages most UK organisations need every day, such as Polish, Urdu, Romanian and Arabic, and the rarer ones that are far harder to source.
Do you cover rare languages and dialects?
Yes, and it is one of the things we are known for. We hold a network of linguists in rare African and Asian languages such as Herero, Dinka, Nuer, Susu, Zaghawa, Kinyarwanda and Tigrinya, the languages UK courts, councils and immigration solicitors regularly need and that many agencies cannot supply.
What if the language I need is not on the list?
The A to Z here is not the limit of what we do. Languages and dialects are constantly added as demand appears. If you do not see the one you need, contact us and we will tell you honestly whether we can cover it and how quickly.
Can you help if we are not sure which language someone speaks?
Yes. This comes up often, particularly in healthcare, council and police work. Tell us the country or region the person is from and anything else you know, and our team can usually narrow it down to the right language and dialect.
Do you cover regional dialects, not just standard languages?
Yes. Dialect matters. An interpreter who speaks standard Arabic may not be the right fit for a speaker of a particular regional variety, so we match linguists to the dialect, not only the language, wherever it makes a difference to understanding.
