Sectors We Serve
Subtitling, SDH, transcription and script translation for UK broadcasters, production companies and agencies, in 300+ languages.
Content reaches further when language is not in the way. A subtitled documentary finds an international audience, captioned video is open to deaf viewers and to the many people who watch with the sound off, and a well-translated script lets a programme travel. Prism Linguistics provides language services for UK media and broadcast in more than 300 languages.
We work with broadcasters, production companies, agencies and content teams on subtitling, captions, SDH, transcription, script translation and voiceover support, and we work to media deadlines.
Media language work has its own craft and its own rules. Subtitles have to be timed to the speech, broken into readable lines and kept within reading-speed limits. SDH has to carry the sound a deaf viewer would otherwise miss. Captions have to be accurate down to the names and the technical terms that automatic tools so often get wrong.
We produce subtitles to UK broadcast conventions, in line with Ofcom guidance, and we will follow a broadcaster's own style guide where there is one. For online and social content, where most viewing happens on mute, the same care makes the difference between content that holds an audience and content that loses it in the first few seconds.
