Acholi is a Southern Luo language of northern Uganda and, in smaller numbers, South Sudan. The Acholi-speaking community in the UK is modest, part of the wider Ugandan and South Sudanese diaspora rather than the larger Ugandan-Asian population, with people settled mainly around London, Leicester, the West Midlands and Greater Manchester. Much of our Acholi work is asylum and immigration documentation for the Home Office and the tribunals, alongside civil papers such as birth and marriage certificates for settlement and citizenship applications, and school or university records assessed by UK ENIC. We can also arrange interpreters for the NHS and courts where the setting calls for it. Around 1.5 million people speak Acholi worldwide.
