Afar translation services in Cumbernauld
Document translation is mostly handled by email: your file goes to a Afar native translator, the translated version comes back to you in the format you need. So even though this page is about Cumbernauld, location matters less for translation than it does for interpreting: we deliver to clients in Cumbernauld the same way we deliver to clients anywhere else in the UK. The Cumbernauld-specific bit is the local context: if your document is for a Cumbernauld solicitor, a Cumbernauld hospital or a Cumbernauld university, we'll handle the formatting and the accompanying paperwork the way those bodies expect.
Certified Afar translation
For most UK official use in Cumbernauld (UKVI applications, court proceedings, university admissions, registry office work, Home Office cases), certified Afar translation is what's required. We provide that as standard: the translated document plus a signed declaration of accuracy on Prism Linguistics letterhead, with the translator's name and our company stamp. Sworn or apostilled formats are available if your receiving body asks for those instead; just tell us at quote stage.
What we translate
How to order a Afar translation in Cumbernauld
Send us the document. We'll come back within an hour during UK office hours with a price and a delivery date. A Afar native translator with the right subject background does the work; a second linguist reviews it; we deliver in the format you asked for. Standard turnaround for a short certificate is normally next working day; longer pieces are quoted with a realistic date.
English to Afar translator (and the other way round) in Cumbernauld
We work in both directions. Customer-facing copy (websites, brochures, ads, emails) is adapted rather than translated word for word, so it reads like it was written in Afar in the first place. Legal, medical and technical documents stay faithful to the source, with formatting matched to the original.
Need a spoken-language interpreter in Cumbernauld too?

About Cumbernauld
Cumbernauld is a town in central Scotland, planned around industry and housing, with a working local economy and a settled population. Its businesses and public services see regular demand for language support. Local solicitors and legal firms ask us to translate documents and to interpret at client meetings, GP surgeries and clinics book interpreters for appointments, and council services, schools and colleges support families whose first language isn't English. Businesses in the town rely on us for accurate translation of their paperwork. Prism Linguistics provides certified document translation, face-to-face interpreting, and telephone and video interpreting in 300+ languages, so support can be arranged in person or remotely to suit. Every assignment is carried out by a qualified native-speaker linguist and then reviewed by a second linguist, with all work handled under UK GDPR and confidentiality standards. We cover Cumbernauld and the surrounding area.
About the Afar language
Afar is a Cushitic language of the Afro-Asiatic family, spoken in the hot lowlands where Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti meet, an area often called the Afar Triangle. Estimates put speaker numbers at around 2 million. In Ethiopia it serves as the working language of the Afar Region, and it is recognised as a national language in both Djibouti and Eritrea. Modern Afar is written in the Latin alphabet, using an orthography developed in the 1970s and sometimes called Qafar Feera. The language is closely related to Saho, spoken further north in Eritrea, and the two are sometimes grouped together as Saho-Afar. Many Afar speakers are pastoralists, while others live in towns along the Red Sea coast and the Awash valley.
