Ashante Language Services in the UK

About Our Ashante Services

Asante Twi, often written Ashante or Ashanti, is the variety of Akan spoken in and around Kumasi, the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Region. It is the most widely used Akan dialect and carries prestige well beyond its home area, heard constantly on Ghanaian radio, in films and in popular music. Estimates of native speakers run to several million, with many more Ghanaians understanding it as a second language. Like other Akan varieties it is tonal and shows vowel harmony, and it is written in a Latin-based orthography taught in schools. Asante Twi is mutually intelligible with Akuapem Twi and, with a little more effort, Fante. The language is closely tied to the history of the Ashanti kingdom, whose court traditions and proverbs remain a rich source of idiom.

Prism Linguistics provides Ashante translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
