Bashkir Language Services in the UK

About Our Bashkir Services

Bashkir is a Turkic language of the Kipchak branch, spoken mainly in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia, where it is co-official with Russian. Speaker estimates generally sit somewhere over a million, though many ethnic Bashkirs now use Russian or Tatar in daily life. Its closest relative is Tatar, spoken in the neighbouring republic, and the two are largely mutually intelligible, though Bashkir has distinctive consonants that set it apart within the branch. The language has been written in a Cyrillic alphabet with nine additional letters since 1940, following earlier periods of Arabic and then Latin script. Bashkir is taught in schools in Bashkortostan and used in local media and literature, and the republic's capital, Ufa, is the centre of Bashkir-language publishing.

Prism Linguistics provides Bashkir translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
