Breton Language Services in the UK

About Our Breton Services

Breton is the Celtic language of Lower Brittany in north-western France, the only Celtic language still spoken on the European mainland and a cousin of Cornish and Welsh. It is severely endangered: speaker numbers have fallen from over a million in 1950 to about 107,000 today, most of them elderly, though bilingual schooling has slowed the decline. Britain has no established Breton-speaking community, so requests are rare and usually involve a single personal document or a piece of family-history research rather than certificates for immigration, since most Bretons hold French papers. Breton has roughly 107,000 speakers, almost all of them in Brittany.

Prism Linguistics provides Breton translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
