Cambodian Language Services in the UK

About Our Cambodian Services

Khmer, often called Cambodian in English, is the official language of Cambodia and belongs to the Austroasiatic family. It is written in the Khmer script, which descends from ancient Indian writing systems, and unlike its neighbours Thai, Lao and Vietnamese it is not a tonal language. Around 16 to 17 million people speak it in Cambodia, with sizeable Khmer-speaking communities in southern Vietnam and in north-eastern Thailand, where the Northern Khmer dialect is used. Vocabulary borrows heavily from Sanskrit and Pali, largely through Buddhism, with later loans from French and Thai. The diaspora that followed the upheavals of the 1970s means Khmer is also spoken in France, the United States and Australia.

Prism Linguistics provides Cambodian translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
