Although Filipino, based on Tagalog, and English are the official languages of the country, Cebuano dominates local radio, television and daily life across the central and southern Philippines. Regional varieties differ mainly in accent and vocabulary rather than grammar. Filipino communities in Britain include Cebuano speakers alongside speakers of Tagalog and other Philippine languages.
