Chamorro Language Services in the UK

About Our Chamorro Services

Chamorro is the indigenous language of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, where it holds official status alongside English. It belongs to the Austronesian family, and centuries of Spanish rule left a heavy mark on its vocabulary, with a large share of everyday words borrowed from Spanish. The language is written in the Latin alphabet. Speaker numbers have fallen as English has taken over daily life, and most fluent speakers today are older; estimates run to some tens of thousands across the islands and in Chamorro communities on the US mainland. Schools and community programmes in both territories now teach Chamorro to younger generations in an effort to keep it in everyday use.

Prism Linguistics provides Chamorro translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
