About Penrith
Penrith is a market town in the Westmorland and Furness unitary authority, in Cumbria, on the edge of the Eden Valley and the Lake District. It has no Crown Court of its own, so serious cases are heard at Carlisle Crown Court, about seventeen miles to the north. Penrith Hospital handles community services, while acute care runs through the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle. About the Chin language
Chin refers to a cluster of related languages from Chin State in western Myanmar and neighbouring parts of India and Bangladesh. The Chin community in the UK is small and largely made up of refugees and their families, part of the wider Burmese population here, which the 2021 census recorded at only a few thousand people. Because of that history, most of our Chin work is asylum and immigration documentation: personal and civil documents for the Home Office and UKVI, and papers for the immigration and asylum tribunals, together with credential evaluation through UK ENIC.
