Faroese is a North Germanic language of the Faroe Islands, closely related to Icelandic and descended from the Old Norse of the settlers who reached the islands from Norway; about a third of its speakers live in Denmark. There is no sizeable Faroese community in the UK, so the language reaches us only now and then, usually from individuals rather than any settled group. When it does, the work is typically civil and personal paperwork, birth, marriage and educational certificates prepared for Home Office or UKVI purposes or evaluated by UK ENIC for study or work. Faroese is spoken by roughly 69,000 people.
Prism Linguistics provides Faroese translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
