Face-to-face, phone or video in March
For short, urgent conversations in March (a GP receptionist call, a doorstep statement, an emergency department triage), telephone Garifuna interpreting is on demand and connects within minutes. For longer or more sensitive appointments (a contested hearing, a mental-health assessment, a customer meeting), face-to-face in March is worth the extra time it takes to confirm. Video works well when the parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.
How long it takes to confirm in March
Telephone Garifuna is on demand. Face-to-face appointments in March can usually be confirmed within a few hours. Less common Garifuna dialects benefit from a day or two's notice; that's normally enough to get you the strongest interpreter rather than the only available one.
How to book or hire a Garifuna interpreter in March
Send us the date, the venue and the type of appointment. We come back with the interpreter and a price (usually within the hour during UK office hours), and once you confirm, the linguist works the assignment. Pay-as-you-go, monthly invoicing, or to a PO if your accounts team need that.
English to Garifuna interpreter (and the other way round) in March
Our Garifuna interpreters in March work in both directions, consecutively (most appointments) or simultaneously where the setting calls for it. For events with equipment requirements, such as booths and headsets, let us know at quote stage so we can scope the kit and the interpreter team size correctly.

Garifuna interpreting in March: FAQs
How much does a Garifuna interpreter cost in March?
Cost depends on the language, the type of appointment, how long it is and how much notice you can give. There isn't a single hourly figure that's honest across NHS, legal and private work in March. Send the basics through the quote form and we'll come back with a price.
How do you pick the right interpreter for my March appointment?
We match on three things: subject experience (an NHS booking goes to a Garifuna interpreter who has worked in NHS settings, not just any interpreter), Garifuna dialect, and availability for your time and place in March. If you have a preferred linguist from a previous job, we'll try them first.
Can you cover urgent / same-day Garifuna requests in March?
Telephone Garifuna is on demand. For face-to-face in March, same-day is often possible for the more common languages; for less common dialects, give us a day's notice if you can and we'll get you the right person.

About the Garifuna language
Garifuna is an Arawakan language of the Caribbean coast of Central America, spoken by the Garifuna people of Honduras, Belize, Guatemala and Nicaragua, with a large diaspora in the United States. There is essentially no Garifuna-speaking community in the UK; the few speakers here belong to the wider Central American and Caribbean diaspora rather than any settled group. Our Garifuna work is limited and occasional, mostly asylum and immigration documentation for the Home Office and the tribunals, civil certificates such as birth and marriage records for settlement applications, and academic records assessed by UK ENIC for credential evaluation. An interpreter can be sourced for a hearing or NHS appointment where one is needed. Around 120,000 people speak Garifuna worldwide.
