Greek Language Services in the UK

About Our Greek Services

Greek forms its own branch of the Indo-European family and has the longest documented history of any living European language, with written records stretching back over three thousand years to Mycenaean times. Around 13 million people speak it, mainly in Greece and Cyprus, where it holds official status; it is also an official language of the European Union. The Greek alphabet, adapted from Phoenician letters, has been in continuous use for roughly 2,800 years. Modern Standard Greek grew out of the everyday Demotic variety, which replaced the formal Katharevousa in official use during the 1970s. Distinct regional varieties survive, notably Cypriot Greek and Pontic Greek. Britain has a long-established Greek and Greek Cypriot community, concentrated in north London, so the language is a familiar presence in UK schools, churches and businesses.

Prism Linguistics provides Greek translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
