Kingwana Language Services in the UK

About Our Kingwana Services

Kingwana is the name often given to Congolese Swahili, the form of Swahili spoken in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, especially in the east and south-east of the country around Lubumbashi, the Kivu provinces and the old trade routes. Swahili is one of the DRC's four recognised national languages, alongside Lingala, Kikongo and Tshiluba, with French as the official language. Congolese Swahili differs noticeably from the East African standard based on Zanzibar speech: it borrows more from French and from local Bantu languages, and simplifies some of the grammar. Millions of Congolese use it daily as a first or second language. It is written in the Latin alphabet, as Swahili is everywhere.

Prism Linguistics provides Kingwana translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
