Korean Language Services in the UK

About Our Korean Services

Korean is the official language of both South and North Korea, with around 80 million speakers worldwide. Its relationship to other languages is disputed; most linguists now treat it as its own small family, Koreanic. Korean is written in Hangul, the alphabet devised in the fifteenth century under King Sejong and admired for the way its letter shapes mirror the sounds they represent. The South and North Korean standards have drifted apart in vocabulary since the peninsula's division, with the North avoiding the English loanwords the South absorbs freely. Major dialects follow the old provinces, including the notably divergent speech of Jeju Island. Large Korean communities live in China, Japan, the United States and Central Asia, and Britain's biggest Korean community is centred on New Malden in southwest London.

Prism Linguistics provides Korean translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
