Lomwe Language Services in the UK

About Our Lomwe Services

Lomwe is a Bantu language of southeastern Africa, spoken mainly in northern Mozambique and by a large community in southern Malawi, where the Lomwe are among the country's biggest ethnic groups. Estimates of speaker numbers run from around one and a half million upwards, though in Malawi many ethnic Lomwe have shifted to Chichewa in daily life, so counts vary with how they are made. The language belongs to the Makhuwa group of Bantu languages, and the Mozambican and Malawian varieties differ enough that written materials are not always interchangeable between the two countries. Lomwe is written in the Latin alphabet, with orthographies developed separately on each side of the border, and church publishing has historically been the main source of written material in the language.

Prism Linguistics provides Lomwe translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
