Lomwe is a Bantu language of northern Mozambique, with a related and mutually unintelligible form spoken across the border in Malawi. It has no established community in Britain, so we see it only occasionally. The work, when it arrives, is usually an immigration or civil document tied to a Home Office asylum or settlement case, or a certificate or transcript for a family or study application, which we translate and back up with interpreting where an appointment requires it. Lomwe has around 2.5 million speakers, mainly in Mozambique.
