Luganda Language Services in the UK

About Our Luganda Services

Luganda is a Bantu language spoken in central Uganda, the language of the Baganda people and of the Buganda kingdom, whose territory includes the capital, Kampala. Native speakers are estimated at over five million, and several million more use Luganda as a second language, making it the most widely spoken Ugandan language even though English and Swahili hold official status nationally. It is a tonal language with the noun-class grammar characteristic of Bantu languages, and it distinguishes long and short vowels and consonants in ways that change meaning. Luganda is written in the Latin alphabet and appears daily in Ugandan newspapers, radio broadcasting and popular music.

Prism Linguistics provides Luganda translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
