Malayalam Language Services in the UK

About Our Malayalam Services

Malayalam is a Dravidian language spoken mainly in the Indian state of Kerala, where it is the official language, and in the neighbouring territories of Lakshadweep and Mahe. Around 35 to 38 million people speak it. The language separated from early Tamil roughly a millennium ago and went on to develop its own script, a rounded alphabet suited to writing on palm leaves, along with a large stock of Sanskrit loanwords. In 2013 the Indian government designated Malayalam a classical language in recognition of its literary history. Kerala's long trading contacts brought words from Arabic, Portuguese and Dutch into the language. Large Malayali communities work across the Gulf states, and the UK's Malayali population has grown notably, with many working in the NHS.

Prism Linguistics provides Malayalam translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
