Face-to-face, phone or video in Edinburgh
For short, urgent conversations in Edinburgh (a GP receptionist call, a doorstep statement, an emergency department triage), telephone Mirpuri interpreting is on demand and connects within minutes. For longer or more sensitive appointments (a contested hearing, a mental-health assessment, a customer meeting), face-to-face in Edinburgh is worth the extra time it takes to confirm. Video works well when the parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.
How long it takes to confirm in Edinburgh
Telephone Mirpuri is on demand. Face-to-face appointments in Edinburgh can usually be confirmed within a few hours. Less common Mirpuri dialects benefit from a day or two's notice; that's normally enough to get you the strongest interpreter rather than the only available one.

Mirpuri interpreting in Edinburgh: FAQs
How much does a Mirpuri interpreter cost in Edinburgh?
Cost depends on the language, the type of appointment, how long it is and how much notice you can give. There isn't a single hourly figure that's honest across NHS, legal and private work in Edinburgh. Send the basics through the quote form and we'll come back with a price.
How do you pick the right interpreter for my Edinburgh appointment?
We match on three things: subject experience (an NHS booking goes to a Mirpuri interpreter who has worked in NHS settings, not just any interpreter), Mirpuri dialect, and availability for your time and place in Edinburgh. If you have a preferred linguist from a previous job, we'll try them first.
Can you cover urgent / same-day Mirpuri requests in Edinburgh?
Telephone Mirpuri is on demand. For face-to-face in Edinburgh, same-day is often possible for the more common languages; for less common dialects, give us a day's notice if you can and we'll get you the right person.

About Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and one of the country's 32 council areas. Scotland has its own legal system, so the courts here are the Sheriff Court, the High Court of Justiciary for the most serious cases and the Court of Session, rather than the Crown and magistrates' courts found in England. NHS Lothian runs the city's hospitals, including the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and the University of Edinburgh is one of four universities drawing students and staff from around the world. Courts, hospitals and universities together keep demand for interpreters and certified translations high. The languages reflect a capital city. Polish is one of the most widely spoken languages after English across Scotland, and Edinburgh also has settled South Asian, Chinese and Arabic-speaking communities. Scottish Gaelic is present too, though spoken by a minority. We are regularly asked for the rarer languages that other agencies cannot supply.

About the Mirpuri language
Mirpuri is the everyday language of most British Pakistanis, who trace their roots to the Mirpur district of Azad Kashmir. It is a variety of Pahari-Pothwari and is largely the same as the Pothwari spoken across the border in Pakistan, so the labels Mirpuri, Pahari and Pothwari overlap in practice. Speakers cluster in the West Midlands and West Yorkshire, in places like Birmingham, Bradford and Luton, making it one of the most spoken community languages in Britain even though the census undercounts it. Mirpuri is chiefly a spoken language: written documents are handled in standard Urdu, so most of our Mirpuri work is interpreting for NHS, court and Home Office settings. As a Pahari-Pothwari variety it has several million speakers.
