Mirpuri Language Services in the UK

About Our Mirpuri Services

Mirpuri is the speech of the Mirpur district of Azad Kashmir in northern Pakistan. It belongs to the Pahari-Pothwari group of Indo-Aryan varieties and is closely related to Punjabi, though linguists differ on whether to class it as a Punjabi dialect or as part of a separate language. It is primarily a spoken language without a widely used written standard; speakers in Pakistan typically write in Urdu instead. Mirpuri matters greatly in Britain: a large share of British Pakistanis trace their roots to Mirpur, a migration that accelerated in the 1960s when the Mangla Dam displaced many villages, and Mirpuri is widely spoken in Birmingham, Bradford and other northern English cities. Public services often list it as a distinct community language.

Prism Linguistics provides Mirpuri translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
