Mizo Language Services in the UK

About Our Mizo Services

Mizo is a Kuki-Chin language of the Tibeto-Burman group, spoken mainly in Mizoram in north-east India, where it is the official state language, and by smaller communities in neighbouring parts of Myanmar and Bangladesh. Indian census figures put speaker numbers at over 800,000. The language was formerly known as Lushai, a name still found in older linguistic literature. Mizo is tonal and is written in the Latin alphabet, using a spelling system devised by Christian missionaries in the 1890s. Literacy in Mizoram is among the highest of any Indian state, and a substantial body of Mizo hymns, newspapers and literature exists. Mizo also serves as a lingua franca among related Kuki-Chin communities in the surrounding hills.

Prism Linguistics provides Mizo translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
