Nauruan Language Services in the UK

About Our Nauruan Services

Nauruan is the national language of Nauru, a single raised coral island in the central Pacific and one of the world's smallest republics. It belongs to the Micronesian branch of the Austronesian family, though it sits somewhat apart from its relatives and its precise position has long puzzled linguists. English is widely used in government and schooling, and most Nauruans are bilingual. The language is written in the Latin alphabet; a spelling reform was attempted in the late 1930s but never fully took hold. With Nauru's population only around 12,000, speaker numbers are correspondingly small, generally put at several thousand. Decades of migration linked to the phosphate industry have added further pressure, and keeping the language in daily use is an ongoing concern.

Prism Linguistics provides Nauruan translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
