Face-to-face, phone or video in Edinburgh

For short, urgent conversations in Edinburgh (a GP receptionist call, a doorstep statement, an emergency department triage), telephone Quichua interpreting is on demand and connects within minutes. For longer or more sensitive appointments (a contested hearing, a mental-health assessment, a customer meeting), face-to-face in Edinburgh is worth the extra time it takes to confirm. Video works well when the parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.

How long it takes to confirm in Edinburgh

Telephone Quichua is on demand. Face-to-face appointments in Edinburgh can usually be confirmed within a few hours. Less common Quichua dialects benefit from a day or two's notice; that's normally enough to get you the strongest interpreter rather than the only available one.

How to book or hire a Quichua interpreter in Edinburgh

Send us the date, the venue and the type of appointment. We come back with the interpreter and a price (usually within the hour during UK office hours), and once you confirm, the linguist works the assignment. Pay-as-you-go, monthly invoicing, or to a PO if your accounts team need that.

English to Quichua interpreter (and the other way round) in Edinburgh

Our Quichua interpreters in Edinburgh work in both directions, consecutively (most appointments) or simultaneously where the setting calls for it. For events with equipment requirements, such as booths and headsets, let us know at quote stage so we can scope the kit and the interpreter team size correctly.

Quichua interpreting in Edinburgh: FAQs

How much does a Quichua interpreter cost in Edinburgh?

Cost depends on the language, the type of appointment, how long it is and how much notice you can give. There isn't a single hourly figure that's honest across NHS, legal and private work in Edinburgh. Send the basics through the quote form and we'll come back with a price.

How do you pick the right interpreter for my Edinburgh appointment?

We match on three things: subject experience (an NHS booking goes to a Quichua interpreter who has worked in NHS settings, not just any interpreter), Quichua dialect, and availability for your time and place in Edinburgh. If you have a preferred linguist from a previous job, we'll try them first.

Can you cover urgent / same-day Quichua requests in Edinburgh?

Telephone Quichua is on demand. For face-to-face in Edinburgh, same-day is often possible for the more common languages; for less common dialects, give us a day's notice if you can and we'll get you the right person.

About Edinburgh

Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and one of the country's 32 council areas. Scotland has its own legal system, so the courts here are the Sheriff Court, the High Court of Justiciary for the most serious cases and the Court of Session, rather than the Crown and magistrates' courts found in England. NHS Lothian runs the city's hospitals, including the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and the University of Edinburgh is one of four universities drawing students and staff from around the world. Courts, hospitals and universities together keep demand for interpreters and certified translations high. The languages reflect a capital city. Polish is one of the most widely spoken languages after English across Scotland, and Edinburgh also has settled South Asian, Chinese and Arabic-speaking communities. Scottish Gaelic is present too, though spoken by a minority. We are regularly asked for the rarer languages that other agencies cannot supply.

About the Quichua language

Quichua is the Ecuadorean form of Quechua, the main indigenous language family of the Andes, with millions of speakers spread across Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. In the UK its speakers are few, generally part of the broader Latin American community in London, and most also use Spanish for official purposes. Dedicated Quechua work is therefore uncommon; where it comes up it is usually civil and identity documents or educational records prepared for Home Office and UKVI applications or evaluated by UK ENIC, often handled together with Spanish. Across all its varieties, Quechua is spoken by somewhere around seven to eight million people throughout the central Andes.
