Sara Language Services in the UK

About Our Sara Services

Sara refers to a group of closely related Central Sudanic languages, part of the Nilo-Saharan family, spoken by the Sara peoples of southern Chad and adjoining parts of the Central African Republic. The largest single variety is Ngambay, centred on the city of Moundou; others include Sar, spoken around the town of Sarh, and Mbay. Together the Sara languages have several million speakers, and the Sara are the largest ethnic group in Chad. French and Arabic are Chad's official languages, so most Sara speakers use one or both alongside their mother tongue, with Ngambay itself serving as a local lingua franca in the southwest of the country. The languages are tonal and are written in the Latin alphabet, largely through church and literacy programmes rather than state schooling.

Prism Linguistics provides Sara translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
