Sena Language Services in the UK

About Our Sena Services

Sena is a Bantu language of the lower Zambezi valley in central Mozambique, spoken around the river's floodplain in Sofala, Zambezia, Tete and Manica provinces, with related varieties across the border in southern Malawi. Estimates for speaker numbers generally exceed a million, though Portuguese, Mozambique's official language, dominates education and administration. The language is written in the Latin alphabet and shares the prefix-based noun-class grammar characteristic of Bantu languages. It is closely related to Nyanja and Nyungwe, its neighbours to the north and west. Sena is used in local radio and in religious life, and Bible translations exist, but publishing in the language remains modest. Most speakers are bilingual to some degree in Portuguese or in neighbouring Bantu languages.

Prism Linguistics provides Sena translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
