Setswana Language Services in the UK

About Our Setswana Services

Setswana, also called Tswana, is a Bantu language of the Sotho-Tswana group. It is the national language of Botswana, spoken there by the great majority of the population, and one of South Africa's official languages, with many of its speakers actually living in South Africa's North West province and neighbouring areas; smaller communities live in Namibia and Zimbabwe. Estimates commonly put first-language speakers at around five million, with several million more using it as a second language. Setswana is closely related to Sesotho and Northern Sotho, and the three are largely mutually intelligible. It is written in the Latin alphabet, and the first books in the language were produced by missionaries in the nineteenth century; Robert Moffat's Setswana Bible was among the earliest complete Bible translations in an African language.

Prism Linguistics provides Setswana translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
