Susu is a Mande language of coastal West Africa, spoken chiefly in Guinea, where it is one of the recognised national languages, and by smaller communities in Sierra Leone. It serves as the everyday lingua franca of Guinea's coastal region, including the area around the capital, Conakry, so many people speak it as a second language on top of over a million native speakers. French remains the language of government and formal schooling in Guinea. Susu is written in the Latin alphabet, and some religious material circulates in Arabic script. It is closely related to Yalunka, spoken further inland, and the two are often described as varieties of a single language.
Prism Linguistics provides Susu translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
