Swazi Language Services in the UK

About Our Swazi Services

Swazi, more properly called Siswati by its speakers, is the language of the Swazi nation in southern Africa. It belongs to the Nguni group of Bantu languages, the same cluster that includes Zulu, Xhosa and Ndebele, and like its relatives it is a tonal language written in the Latin alphabet. Around 2.5 million people speak it: roughly a million in Eswatini, where it is the national language taught in every school, and rather more in South Africa's Mpumalanga province along the Eswatini border. English serves alongside Swazi as an official language of Eswatini, and switching between the two is common in towns. The language sets itself apart from Zulu through differences in sound and vocabulary, though the two remain largely mutually intelligible, and speakers of one can usually follow the other.

Prism Linguistics provides Swazi translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
