Tatar Language Services in the UK

About Our Tatar Services

Tatar is a Turkic language of the Kipchak branch, spoken chiefly in the Russian republic of Tatarstan, where it is co-official with Russian, and by Tatar communities scattered across the Volga region, Siberia, Central Asia and beyond. Speakers number around five million. The language has changed script twice in the past century: written in Arabic script for hundreds of years, it moved to a Latin alphabet in the late 1920s and then to Cyrillic in 1939, which remains the official script, since Russian law requires state languages within Russia to use Cyrillic. Kazan, Tatarstan's capital, is the centre of Tatar publishing, education and broadcasting. Crimean Tatar, despite the similar name, is a separate language with its own history, and the two should not be confused.

Prism Linguistics provides Tatar translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
