Tobi Language Services in the UK

About Our Tobi Services

Tobi, or Tobian, is a Micronesian language from the Austronesian family, native to Tobi Island in the remote Southwest Islands of Palau. It is recognised locally in Hatohobei, the state that includes the island, alongside Palau's national languages. The speaker community is very small indeed: most Tobians long ago relocated to Koror, Palau's main population centre, and only a handful of people remain on the island itself. Linguists class Tobian as endangered, with speakers likely numbering in the low hundreds at most, and English and Palauan dominate daily life for younger Tobians. The language is written in the Latin alphabet, and documentation projects have recorded texts and word lists to help preserve it.

Prism Linguistics provides Tobi translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
