What our Catalan translators and interpreters cover for Ayr clients
Most Ayr bookings split between two needs: a document that has to be in another language for a UK body to accept it, or a conversation that has to happen with someone whose strongest language isn't English. The detail differs from job to job, but the principle is the same: the work has to be accurate enough that nobody on the receiving end has to guess what was meant.
- Legal: contracts, court papers, witness statements, instructed work for solicitors in Ayr.
- Healthcare: patient letters, clinical notes, consent forms for Ayr hospitals and clinics.
- Police and criminal: interviews, statements and disclosure material for Ayr police, probation and CPS work.
- Business: supplier contracts, board papers, customer-facing copy.
- Public sector, social care, education, housing and registry work.
Certified Catalan document translation in Ayr
For UK official use (UKVI applications, court bundles, university admissions, registry office work), we provide certified Catalan translation as standard: the translation plus a signed declaration of accuracy on Prism Linguistics letterhead, with the translator's name and our company stamp. Sworn or apostilled formats are available where a specific recipient requires them; tell us at quote stage.
Face-to-face, telephone and video interpreting in Ayr
For appointments in Ayr (a hospital outpatient, a solicitor conference, a contested hearing, a customer meeting), we send a Catalan interpreter in person where it matters. For short or urgent conversations, telephone Catalan interpreting connects in minutes. Video sits between the two: useful when parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.
See the face-to-face interpreting page for how we run an in-person booking, or the Catalan interpreter in Ayr page for what we cover locally.
Court work and HMCTS
We supply Catalan interpreters with court experience for HMCTS hearings, tribunals and legal consultations in Ayr. We match each court booking to a linguist whose credentials and vetting fit the setting; happy to send a CV before an appointment if it helps with your prep.
How to book or hire a Catalan translator or interpreter in Ayr
Send the date, the venue and the type of appointment (or the document and how it will be used). You get a price and a delivery date back, normally within an hour during UK office hours. Once confirmed, the linguist works the assignment; we invoice on the schedule that suits your accounts team.

About the Catalan language
Catalan is a Romance language spoken by an estimated nine to ten million people. It is co-official in the Spanish regions of Catalonia, Valencia, where it is officially called Valencian, and the Balearic Islands, and it is the sole official language of Andorra. Smaller communities speak it in the Roussillon area of southern France and in the city of Alghero on Sardinia. Catalan developed from Latin alongside its neighbours but is a distinct language, not a dialect of Spanish; in some respects its vocabulary sits closer to Occitan and French. It is written in the Latin alphabet and has a continuous literary record stretching back to the Middle Ages. Catalan-language schooling, publishing and broadcasting are well established, particularly in Catalonia.
About Ayr
Ayr is the administrative centre of South Ayrshire, on Scotland's south-west coast. Because this is Scotland, criminal and civil cases are heard in the sheriff court rather than the Crown Court, and Ayr Sheriff Court, in the County Buildings on Wellington Square, serves the town and the surrounding district. University Hospital Ayr, run by NHS Ayrshire and Arran, is the main general hospital, and the town has a University of the West of Scotland campus alongside Ayrshire College. Between the court, health services and colleges, there is a regular need for interpreters and certified translations. Ayr is a largely Scottish town with a small settled population from elsewhere, so the requests we handle are less concentrated than in the cities. European languages come up from time to time, usually tied to a specific court case, medical appointment or immigration matter. What firms and courts most often come to us for are the rarer languages that a single hearing can hinge on, the ones other agencies cannot readily supply.

Why Choose Us
Translations that actually get accepted
Most of our work is for UK bodies that have to accept the translation as part of a process: courts, the Home Office, the NHS, universities, councils. We format and certify so the receiving body doesn't send it back.
Native Catalan linguists, second-linguist review
Translators only translate into their first language. Every job is reviewed by a second Catalan linguist before delivery: names, dates and formatting checked against the original.
Responsive in UK working hours
Quotes back within an hour in UK office hours. For on-demand telephone interpreting we cover out-of-hours too; call the main number and you'll get connected.
