What our Gujarati translators and interpreters cover for Reading clients

Most Reading bookings split between two needs: a document that has to be in another language for a UK body to accept it, or a conversation that has to happen with someone whose strongest language isn't English. The detail differs from job to job, but the principle is the same: the work has to be accurate enough that nobody on the receiving end has to guess what was meant.

  • Legal: contracts, court papers, witness statements, instructed work for solicitors in Reading.
  • Healthcare: patient letters, clinical notes, consent forms for Reading hospitals and clinics.
  • Police and criminal: interviews, statements and disclosure material for Reading police, probation and CPS work.
  • Business: supplier contracts, board papers, customer-facing copy.
  • Public sector, social care, education, housing and registry work.

Certified Gujarati document translation in Reading

For UK official use (UKVI applications, court bundles, university admissions, registry office work), we provide certified Gujarati translation as standard: the translation plus a signed declaration of accuracy on Prism Linguistics letterhead, with the translator's name and our company stamp. Sworn or apostilled formats are available where a specific recipient requires them; tell us at quote stage.

Face-to-face, telephone and video interpreting in Reading

For appointments in Reading (a hospital outpatient, a solicitor conference, a contested hearing, a customer meeting), we send a Gujarati interpreter in person where it matters. For short or urgent conversations, telephone Gujarati interpreting connects in minutes. Video sits between the two: useful when parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.

See the face-to-face interpreting page for how we run an in-person booking, or the Gujarati interpreter in Reading page for what we cover locally.

Court work and HMCTS

We supply Gujarati interpreters with court experience for HMCTS hearings, tribunals and legal consultations in Reading. We match each court booking to a linguist whose credentials and vetting fit the setting; happy to send a CV before an appointment if it helps with your prep.

How to book or hire a Gujarati translator or interpreter in Reading

About the Gujarati language

Some 55 million people speak Gujarati, an Indo-Aryan language centred on the western Indian state of Gujarat, where it is the official language. It is one of India's 22 scheduled languages and was the mother tongue of Mahatma Gandhi. The language has its own script, related to Devanagari but written without the horizontal line running along the top of each word. Regional varieties include Surti, spoken around Surat, and Kathiawari from the Saurashtra peninsula. Migration through East Africa in the twentieth century carried Gujarati around the world, and it is now among the most widely spoken South Asian languages in Britain, with well over 150,000 speakers recorded in England and Wales, particularly in Leicester and London. Gujarati distinguishes three grammatical genders and, like its relatives, places the verb at the end of the sentence.

About Reading

Reading is a unitary authority in Berkshire, and much of the work that reaches us here runs through its courts, its hospital and the University of Reading. The town has its own Crown Court, sharing a building with the county court that handles civil claims, while first hearings and lower-level criminal matters go through the magistrates' court. The Royal Berkshire Hospital serves the town and the districts around it, and the university draws students and staff from well beyond the UK. Between them these bodies keep up a steady, year-round need for interpreters and certified translations. The languages reflect who has settled here: Reading has a large, long-established Polish community, one count put around 150 languages in use across the town, and there are sizeable Indian and Pakistani populations, so Urdu and Punjabi come up often alongside Polish and Arabic. We are also asked for the rarer languages a single tribunal hearing or hospital appointment can turn on, the requests other agencies cannot fill.

Why Prism Linguistics

Why Choose Us

Translations that actually get accepted

Most of our work is for UK bodies that have to accept the translation as part of a process: courts, the Home Office, the NHS, universities, councils. We format and certify so the receiving body doesn't send it back.

Native Gujarati linguists, second-linguist review

Translators only translate into their first language. Every job is reviewed by a second Gujarati linguist before delivery: names, dates and formatting checked against the original.

Responsive in UK working hours

Quotes back within an hour in UK office hours. For on-demand telephone interpreting we cover out-of-hours too; call the main number and you'll get connected.
