What our Mina translators and interpreters cover for Eyemouth clients

Most Eyemouth bookings split between two needs: a document that has to be in another language for a UK body to accept it, or a conversation that has to happen with someone whose strongest language isn't English. The detail differs from job to job, but the principle is the same: the work has to be accurate enough that nobody on the receiving end has to guess what was meant.

  • Legal: contracts, court papers, witness statements, instructed work for solicitors in Eyemouth.
  • Healthcare: patient letters, clinical notes, consent forms for Eyemouth hospitals and clinics.
  • Police and criminal: interviews, statements and disclosure material for Eyemouth police, probation and CPS work.
  • Business: supplier contracts, board papers, customer-facing copy.
  • Public sector, social care, education, housing and registry work.

Certified Mina document translation in Eyemouth

For UK official use (UKVI applications, court bundles, university admissions, registry office work), we provide certified Mina translation as standard: the translation plus a signed declaration of accuracy on Prism Linguistics letterhead, with the translator's name and our company stamp. Sworn or apostilled formats are available where a specific recipient requires them; tell us at quote stage.

Face-to-face, telephone and video interpreting in Eyemouth

For appointments in Eyemouth (a hospital outpatient, a solicitor conference, a contested hearing, a customer meeting), we send a Mina interpreter in person where it matters. For short or urgent conversations, telephone Mina interpreting connects in minutes. Video sits between the two: useful when parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.

See the face-to-face interpreting page for how we run an in-person booking, or the Mina interpreter in Eyemouth page for what we cover locally.

Court work and HMCTS

We supply Mina interpreters with court experience for HMCTS hearings, tribunals and legal consultations in Eyemouth. We match each court booking to a linguist whose credentials and vetting fit the setting; happy to send a CV before an appointment if it helps with your prep.

About the Mina language

Mina, also called Gen, is a coastal language of southern Togo and neighbouring Benin, closely related to Ewe and widely used as a trade language along that stretch of the West African coast. Its UK speakers are few and belong to the broader West African community, so requests come up only now and then. Documents from Togo and Benin are issued in French, so any translation work is usually French, and our Mina work itself is almost entirely interpreting: asylum tribunals, courts and NHS appointments for people most comfortable in their home language. Mina has around 620,000 speakers across Togo and Benin.

About Eyemouth

Eyemouth is a small fishing port on the Berwickshire coast, in the Scottish Borders. It has no court, hospital or university of its own. The nearest town is Berwick-upon-Tweed, just over the border in England, with Duns the local administrative centre inland. As this is Scotland, court business is handled through the sheriff court system rather than magistrates' or crown courts, with Borders cases heard at Jedburgh. What work reaches us comes through solicitors and public services in the larger towns nearby. English is the everyday language here, with some of the older Scots vocabulary still part of local speech. Demand is modest in a town this size, shaped mainly by the fishing industry and the workers it draws. We are called on for the rarer languages a single hearing or appointment can turn on, and those are usually the requests other agencies struggle to fill.

We provide professional Mina translators across major UK cities and towns, supporting businesses, courts, and public sector organisations nationwide.

Why Prism Linguistics

Why Choose Us

Translations that actually get accepted

Most of our work is for UK bodies that have to accept the translation as part of a process: courts, the Home Office, the NHS, universities, councils. We format and certify so the receiving body doesn't send it back.

Native Mina linguists, second-linguist review

Translators only translate into their first language. Every job is reviewed by a second Mina linguist before delivery: names, dates and formatting checked against the original.

Responsive in UK working hours

Quotes back within an hour in UK office hours. For on-demand telephone interpreting we cover out-of-hours too; call the main number and you'll get connected.
