Nyanja, known as Chichewa in Malawi, is a major Bantu language of southern Africa, the main language of Malawi and a lingua franca in Zambia's capital, Lusaka. In the UK its speakers are part of the Malawian and Zambian communities, present but not large, with most settled in England.
