What our Tigrinya translators and interpreters cover for Luton clients
Most Luton bookings split between two needs: a document that has to be in another language for a UK body to accept it, or a conversation that has to happen with someone whose strongest language isn't English. The detail differs from job to job, but the principle is the same: the work has to be accurate enough that nobody on the receiving end has to guess what was meant.
- Legal: contracts, court papers, witness statements, instructed work for solicitors in Luton.
- Healthcare: patient letters, clinical notes, consent forms for Luton hospitals and clinics.
- Police and criminal: interviews, statements and disclosure material for Luton police, probation and CPS work.
- Business: supplier contracts, board papers, customer-facing copy.
- Public sector, social care, education, housing and registry work.
Certified Tigrinya document translation in Luton
For UK official use (UKVI applications, court bundles, university admissions, registry office work), we provide certified Tigrinya translation as standard: the translation plus a signed declaration of accuracy on Prism Linguistics letterhead, with the translator's name and our company stamp. Sworn or apostilled formats are available where a specific recipient requires them; tell us at quote stage.
Face-to-face, telephone and video interpreting in Luton
For appointments in Luton (a hospital outpatient, a solicitor conference, a contested hearing, a customer meeting), we send a Tigrinya interpreter in person where it matters. For short or urgent conversations, telephone Tigrinya interpreting connects in minutes. Video sits between the two: useful when parties are in different places but eye contact still matters.
See the face-to-face interpreting page for how we run an in-person booking, or the Tigrinya interpreter in Luton page for what we cover locally.
Court work and HMCTS
We supply Tigrinya interpreters with court experience for HMCTS hearings, tribunals and legal consultations in Luton. We match each court booking to a linguist whose credentials and vetting fit the setting; happy to send a CV before an appointment if it helps with your prep.
How to book or hire a Tigrinya translator or interpreter in Luton
Send the date, the venue and the type of appointment (or the document and how it will be used). You get a price and a delivery date back, normally within an hour during UK office hours. Once confirmed, the linguist works the assignment; we invoice on the schedule that suits your accounts team.

About the Tigrinya language
Tigrinya is a Semitic language of the Horn of Africa, spoken in Eritrea, where it is the main working language, and in Ethiopia's Tigray region, where it holds official status. It is written in the Ge'ez script, the syllabic writing system it shares with Amharic, and descends from the ancient Ge'ez language still used liturgically by Orthodox churches. Speaker estimates generally run from seven to nine million across the two countries. Tigrinya is distinct from Tigre, a related language of western and northern Eritrea, despite the similar name. Emigration from Eritrea in particular has built up sizeable Tigrinya-speaking communities in Europe and North America, including in the UK, where most speakers are concentrated in the larger cities, particularly London.
About Luton
Luton is a large and notably multicultural town north of London, with dozens of languages spoken across its communities and a wide range of employers. That diversity means language support is part of everyday life for many local organisations. Solicitors and legal firms frequently need certified translations for immigration and family cases. GP surgeries, health centres and clinics book interpreters so patients and clinicians understand one another. Council services and the local authority, along with schools and colleges, deal with residents and families from all over the world, and local businesses need documents translated for customers and suppliers abroad. Prism Linguistics provides certified document translation, face-to-face interpreting, and telephone and video interpreting in more than 300 languages. A qualified native-speaker linguist handles each job, and a second linguist checks it before delivery, so quality does not depend on one person alone. All work is confidential and compliant with UK GDPR. We arrange linguists across Luton and the surrounding area, in person where you need a physical presence and remotely where that is quicker.
We provide professional Tigrinya translators across major UK cities and towns, supporting businesses, courts, and public sector organisations nationwide.

Why Choose Us
Translations that actually get accepted
Most of our work is for UK bodies that have to accept the translation as part of a process: courts, the Home Office, the NHS, universities, councils. We format and certify so the receiving body doesn't send it back.
Native Tigrinya linguists, second-linguist review
Translators only translate into their first language. Every job is reviewed by a second Tigrinya linguist before delivery: names, dates and formatting checked against the original.
Responsive in UK working hours
Quotes back within an hour in UK office hours. For on-demand telephone interpreting we cover out-of-hours too; call the main number and you'll get connected.
