Tshivenda Language Services in the UK

About Our Tshivenda Services

Tshivenda, or Venda, is one of South Africa's official languages, spoken mainly in the far north of Limpopo province near the Zimbabwean border, with smaller numbers of speakers in Zimbabwe itself. It is a Bantu language, but one that sits somewhat apart from its neighbours: it shares features with both the Sotho and Shona groups while belonging fully to neither. South Africa's 2011 census recorded around 1.2 million first-language speakers. The language is written in the Latin alphabet with several additional letters carrying marks for sounds most neighbouring languages lack. Tshivenda is used in schools, on radio through the national broadcaster, and in provincial government in Venda-speaking districts, though English dominates South African public life overall.

Prism Linguistics provides Tshivenda translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
