Ulithian Language Services in the UK

About Our Ulithian Services

Ulithian is spoken on Ulithi Atoll and neighbouring islands in Yap State, one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia. It belongs to the Micronesian branch of the Austronesian family and is closely related to Woleaian and the other languages of the scattered outer islands between Yap and Chuuk, where it has traditionally served as something of a common tongue. Speaker numbers are small, generally put at a few thousand, and many Ulithians have moved to Yap proper, to Guam or to the United States, with which the FSM has a compact of free association. The language is written in the Latin alphabet; a dictionary and Bible translation exist, but written use is limited and English dominates schooling.

Prism Linguistics provides Ulithian translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
