Vasekela Bushman Language Services in the UK

About Our Vasekela Bushman Services

Vasekela is the Angolan Bantu name for the Sekele language, known to linguists as Northern Kung or Northern Ju, part of the Ju dialect continuum within the small Kx'a family of southern Africa. Its speakers are San people whose home area lay in southern Angola; during the Angolan Civil War many fled south, and the language is now spoken mainly by a diaspora in northern Namibia, where the Ekoka variety is the best documented. Speaker numbers are small, with recent estimates in the low thousands. Like other San languages it makes heavy use of click consonants, sounds that linguistic sources usually mark with special symbols such as an exclamation mark. It has no official status and little written tradition, and most speakers also use neighbouring Bantu languages.

Prism Linguistics provides Vasekela Bushman translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
