Yupik Language Services in the UK

About Our Yupik Services

Yupik is the name for a group of languages in the Eskimo-Aleut family, spoken on both sides of the Bering Strait. Central Alaskan Yup'ik, the largest, is spoken in south-western Alaska and counts an estimated 10,000 speakers, one of the healthier Indigenous language communities in the United States, with villages where children still learn it at home. The other members are Siberian Yupik, spoken on St Lawrence Island in Alaska and in Chukotka in the Russian Far East, Naukan in Chukotka, and Alutiiq, also called Sugpiaq, along the Gulf of Alaska coast. The languages are related to the Inuit language chain but are distinct from it. They are written in the Latin alphabet, with Cyrillic-based spelling used historically in Russia, and are known for building long words from many suffixes.

Prism Linguistics provides Yupik translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
