Gagauz Language Services in the UK

About Our Gagauz Services

Gagauz is a Turkic language of the Oghuz branch, which makes it a close relative of Turkish and Azerbaijani. It is spoken chiefly in Gagauzia, an autonomous region in the south of Moldova, and by smaller communities in Ukraine. An estimated 150,000 people speak it, and it holds official status within Gagauzia alongside Romanian and Russian. What sets the Gagauz apart from most other Turkic peoples is religion: they are traditionally Orthodox Christians. The language was written in Cyrillic during the Soviet period and switched to a Latin alphabet in the 1990s. Russian remains widely used in Gagauzia, and many younger Gagauz speak it more readily than their heritage language, so local schools and cultural bodies now work to keep Gagauz in daily use.

Prism Linguistics provides Gagauz translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
