Oromigna Language Services in the UK

About Our Oromigna Services

Oromigna, better known as Oromo or Afaan Oromoo, is the language of the Oromo people, the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia. It belongs to the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic family and has an estimated 35 million or more speakers, placing it among the most widely spoken languages in Africa. Its heartland is the vast Oromia region surrounding Addis Ababa, and speakers extend into northern Kenya. Since 1991 Oromo has been written in a Latin-based alphabet called Qubee, which replaced earlier use of the Ge'ez script, and it is the working language of the Oromia regional state, used there in schools, courts and media. The language has several dialects, including Borana in the south. Doubled letters in Qubee spelling mark long vowels and consonants.

Prism Linguistics provides Oromigna translation, interpreting and transcription across the UK in 300+ languages. Whether you need a certified document for the Home Office, a court interpreter, an NHS appointment or a business meeting, our vetted native-speaker linguists are ready to help.
