Tajik Interpreter in Dudley
Need a qualified Tajik interpreter in Dudley? Prism Linguistics books professional Tajik interpreters for people from Tajikistan and the services they meet here: hospital and GP care, wage and employment disputes, police interviews, courts, tribunals and Home Office matters. An interpreter can attend in Dudley, or we connect one by phone or video, often on the same day.
Tajik Interpreting Services in Dudley
Tajik is Persian written in Cyrillic, and that shapes the Tajik interpreting services we provide in Dudley. The language of Tajikistan has used the Cyrillic alphabet since 1939 and kept a deep layer of Russian vocabulary from the Soviet decades, so an interpreter trained on Iranian Farsi or Afghan Dari can follow the grammar yet trip over the loanwords, the official terms and anything read aloud from a document. So we book interpreters who work in Tajik itself, not a near neighbour.
The word also covers two groups of people. Someone from Tajikistan speaks Tajik. An Afghan who calls himself Tajik is naming his ethnic group, the second largest in Afghanistan, and most Afghan Tajiks speak Dari. Asking which country the client comes from takes ten seconds and saves sending the wrong interpreter.
Seasonal farm work brings many Tajik speakers here. People living in Tajikistan were issued 5,712 Seasonal Worker visas in 2025, 14.7% of the UK total, each for up to six months. In the government's 2025 survey of those workers, only 7.3% of respondents across all nationalities chose the English version; Russian was the most popular.
Our Tajik interpreters are professionally qualified and background-checked; where a custody suite, school or ward requires Enhanced DBS, the person we send holds it. They interpret consecutively, English to Tajik and Tajik to English, from the first question to the last.
Dudley Tajik Interpreters
The 2021 Census for England and Wales gives Tajik no row of its own; it sits inside a small group of other West and Central Asian languages. We keep a national list of Tajik interpreters, look first at who can reach Dudley in a sensible journey, and tell you plainly at quote stage who that is. Remote bookings draw on the whole list.
Bookings come from three directions. Seasonal workers, usually booked for them by a farm, a hospital or the police. Students and professionals, who mostly cope in English but may want a hard conversation in Tajik. And families who have settled here, where the person needing a qualified Tajik interpreter tends to be an older parent or a spouse who arrived last year, not the son with ten years of English behind him.
Court Qualified Tajik Interpreters in Dudley
We are asked for a Tajik court interpreter in Magistrates' and Crown Court cases, at employment tribunals where a worker is claiming unpaid wages or unfair deductions, in the Family Court and at the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber). Whatever the room, the interpreter gives the court the witness's own words, false starts included, and adds nothing.
Send the court, the case type and the listing time, and the interpreter's name reaches you in advance. Anyone instructing an interpreter may ask about their DPSI (the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting) or look them up on the NRPSI register. Prism Linguistics is a private language-services provider and does not present itself as a court-appointed supplier.
Tajik NHS and Medical Interpreters in Dudley
For a Tajik seasonal worker far from home, the first contact with the NHS can be an injury at work, a crushed finger or a strained back. A Tajik medical interpreter makes sure the history, the allergies and the consent are understood rather than guessed at. Our Tajik NHS interpreters in Dudley cover:
- A&E, urgent treatment centres and fracture clinics
- GP registration and follow-up appointments
- occupational health and fitness-for-work reviews
- antenatal and maternity care for families living here
- mental health assessments and talking therapies
Patients who learnt technical words in Russian often use them mid-sentence. A Tajik interpreter who catches both keeps the clinical history straight, and will tell the doctor when the patient has switched language.
Tajik Interpreter for Home Office and Immigration Appointments
A Seasonal Worker visa does not lead to settlement, so the immigration work we interpret for Tajik clients mostly comes from other routes: a spouse or family application, a skilled worker's dependants, advice for someone who has overstayed, or an asylum claim. Tajikistan's Supreme Court banned the Islamic Renaissance Party in 2015, and some claims rest on political or religious activity, which the interpreter must render word for word. We supply Tajik interpreters for UKVI appointments, solicitor conferences, Home Office interviews and tribunal appeals.
Surnames can trip up an identity check. Under a 2016 law, Tajik registry offices stopped giving newborns Russian-style surnames ending in -ov or -ev, so a father registered as Karimov may have a child registered as Karimzoda. An interpreter who knows this can explain the difference instead of letting it look like an error.
Tajik Interpreters for Police, Councils and Public Services
Police forces book Tajik interpreters in Dudley for interviews under caution, victim statements and custody. Labour exploitation adds its own work. Investigators from the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, and officers handling modern slavery referrals, need a worker's account of recruitment fees, debts and confiscated passports in full. Councils call on us less often, mostly for housing, school places and safeguarding once a Tajik family has settled locally. If a job needs clearance the available interpreter lacks, we say so before you confirm.
Face-to-Face Tajik Interpreter in Dudley
A Tajik interpreter in the room counts most when someone is describing something frightening, an assault or an employer who kept their passport, to an official they met five minutes ago. For those we send a Tajik interpreter to your address in Dudley with a short brief. Three or four days' notice widens the choice a lot with a language this size.
Telephone and Video Tajik Interpreting
With so few Tajik interpreters in the UK, distance is the usual obstacle, and remote work removes it.Telephone interpreting puts a Tajik telephone interpreter on a three-way call in a few minutes, handy for a farm manager checking a sick note. Video interpreting is better for long or delicate sessions, a solicitor's conference or counselling, and a Tajik video interpreter can join a clinic or a tribunal link from another part of the country.
How Much Does a Tajik Interpreter Cost in Dudley?
No one rate is fair for Tajik, because a short call to a surgery and a day at an employment tribunal are not the same job. The price of a Tajik interpreter in Dudley turns on the hours involved, attendance or a remote link, travel, how soon the booking falls and the subject matter. Put those into the quote form and we send back a fixed price, normally within the hour during UK office hours. Phone and video avoid travel, so they cost less.
How to Book a Tajik Interpreter in Dudley
- Start with the appointment. When it starts, where it is (or the video link), roughly how long it runs, what it concerns and whether the interpreter should attend, ring in or appear on screen. If the person is from Afghanistan, or would rather speak Russian, mention it here.
- Get a quote with a name. We confirm availability and a fixed price and, for attendance, say which Tajik interpreter we have in mind.
- Confirm and we brief them. Employers, NHS services, solicitors and police forces can be invoiced monthly or against a purchase order; private clients pay by card.

About Dudley
Dudley sits at the heart of the Black Country, a town with strong industrial roots and a mix of public services and small enterprise that keeps it ticking. Its communities are varied, and that variety shows up in the daily work of the organisations that serve them. Legal firms and solicitors, GP surgeries and clinics, council and local authority offices, schools and colleges, and local businesses all reach situations where language becomes the deciding factor in whether a conversation actually works. Prism Linguistics answers that with certified document translation, face-to-face interpreting, and telephone and video interpreting across more than 300 languages. We put a qualified native-speaker linguist on every assignment and have a second linguist check the finished work, so the version you receive reads accurately in both languages. Confidentiality and UK GDPR compliance apply to everything we handle, which is essential when documents carry medical or legal weight. We serve Dudley and the wider Black Country, sending interpreters to appointments in person or linking them in by telephone and video when that suits the job better.
Need a Tajik Translator in Dudley Instead?
Everything above concerns spoken Tajik. If you have papers to deal with, such as a birth certificate from Tajikistan, a work record book or a diploma, see our Tajik translator in Dudley page. Certified Tajik translation from Prism means the translation with a signed accuracy statement on our letterhead, and UK universities, HM Passport Office, HMCTS, UKVI and the wider Home Office accept it.
Tajik Interpreter Dudley FAQs
How quickly can you provide a Tajik interpreter in Dudley?
A Tajik interpreter by phone or video can usually be found the same day, often inside an hour. Sending one in person to Dudley tends to take a few days, as there are far fewer Tajik interpreters in the UK than for the larger community languages. Ring as soon as the date is set.
Are your Tajik interpreters qualified for court and tribunal work?
Hearings, including employment and immigration tribunals, are covered by court-experienced Tajik interpreters matched to the type of case. It is reasonable to ask any interpreter about a DPSI qualification or an NRPSI listing. Prism Linguistics is an independent agency and has not been appointed by any court.
Do you provide Tajik interpreters for NHS appointments in Dudley?
Yes. A hospital ward, GP practice, urgent care centre or mental health team in Dudley may book a Tajik medical interpreter through us, face to face or remotely, and pay on invoice. Employers and relatives can also book on a patient's behalf.
Can I request a female Tajik interpreter?
Yes. Ask when you book and we will check that a female Tajik interpreter is free for that date and place before anything is confirmed. Women at maternity or gynaecology appointments, or reporting abuse, often prefer one.
Do you interpret both Tajik to English and English to Tajik?
Yes. One interpreter carries the English side into Tajik and every Tajik reply into English, turn by turn, so neither party misses anything said in the room.
My client is from Afghanistan and says he is Tajik. Does he need a Tajik interpreter?
Usually not. In Afghanistan, Tajik names an ethnic group, and most Afghan Tajiks speak Dari, so a Dari interpreter is normally the right booking. The Tajik language, written in Cyrillic and rich in Russian loanwords, belongs to Tajikistan. If a client from Tajikistan would rather use Russian, tell us and we will book that instead.

About the Tajik Language
Tajik is the form of Persian spoken in Tajikistan, where it is the state language and the constitution gives Russian the role of language between ethnic groups. It was written in Perso-Arabic script until 1928, then in Latin letters, and in Cyrillic since 1939, so on paper Tajik looks nothing like Iranian Persian even though speakers of the two follow each other well in conversation. Soviet rule left a thick layer of Russian loanwords. Large Tajik-speaking communities also live in Uzbekistan, around Samarkand and Bukhara, while in the Pamir mountains of eastern Tajikistan many families speak a Pamiri language at home. For a Tajik interpreter in Dudley, that means knowing both the Persian core and the Russian layer.
