Bengali Translator in Wembley
Need a Bengali translator in Wembley? Prism Linguistics translates Bangladeshi and West Bengal documents into English, and English into Bengali, for UKVI, register offices, solicitors, family courts and the NHS. A Bangladeshi birth certificate is often decades younger than the person it describes. Since 3 July 2006, Bangladesh's Births and Deaths Registration Act 2004 has required births to be registered within 45 days, with late registration allowed, so a grandmother born in a Sylhet village in the 1950s can hold a certificate printed a few years ago. That is normal. Registration now runs through an online system, each record identified by a 17-digit birth registration number, and when a registrar corrects an entry, a new certificate is issued with no note saying what changed. Finding two versions of one person's certificate in a single file is common.
Plenty of British Bangladeshi families speak Sylheti at home, yet their paperwork is written in standard Bengali. Families from West Bengal send documents too. The reasons barely change: a spouse visa, a wedding here, land back home, a family court case. All of it is handled by email, from Wembley or anywhere else in the UK.
English to Bengali Translator (and Bengali to English)
Bengali to English is the busier direction, because most Bengali documents are issued in Bangladesh or India and then acted on by someone in Britain. English to Bengali translation is mostly commissioned by organisations. NHS England's improvement framework for community language services covers written material such as web pages, posters and subtitles, and councils have housing letters put into Bengali for older readers who are more at home in it.
Each direction has its own translator. A native English speaker with fluent Bengali handles anything heading into English; a native Bengali speaker handles the reverse, writing for the real reader: a leaflet for a seventy-year-old should read as plain standard Bengali, not a government notice.
Certified Bengali Translation for UKVI, Courts and Universities
A certified Bengali translation is your document in English with our signed statement of accuracy attached, dated, stamped and on Prism letterhead. You receive a PDF, and a tracked paper copy too if the receiving office wants one. UK universities, HMCTS, HM Passport Office, UKVI and the Home Office all take a Bengali translation certified in this form.
GOV.UK's family visa guidance lists a certified translation of any document not in English or Welsh among the things you must provide, which is why a nikah nama and the children's birth certificates tend to reach us together. Giving notice of marriage at a register office needs a translation of every non-English document, plus proof of any divorce granted in Bangladesh. For a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability, qualification papers in Bengali need certified translations as well.
The UK has no sworn translators; certification does that job here. If an office also asks for a notary or an apostille, arranging it falls to you or your solicitor. We do translate documents that already carry one, seal and signature included.

The nikah nama, also called the kabin nama, is the copy of the marriage register that a Kazi, the government-appointed Muslim marriage registrar, issues under Bangladesh's Muslim Marriages and Divorces (Registration) Act 1974. It names every party to the marriage, and one column records whether the husband has delegated the right of divorce to his wife. A Kazi can also issue a much shorter certificate with only the couple's names, addresses and wedding date. The full version says more, so send that if you have it.
- Bengali birth certificate translation, from old handwritten registrations to current certificates carrying the 17-digit number
- Bengali marriage certificate translation for the nikah nama or the short Kazi certificate, often completed by hand
- talaq papers, including the written notice to the local chairman that, under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961, starts a 90-day period before a divorce takes effect (see legal document translation)
- degree certificates and mark sheets for UK ENIC or a university (check first whether your SSC or HSC certificate is already in English)
- immigration document translation: letters of support, affidavits and anything else bound for a Home Office file
- medical document translation for hospital discharge notes and test reports from Bangladesh or India
- khatians, deeds and mutation records for an estate or a land dispute
Bengali Legal, Medical and Business Translation
Bengali legal translation very often means land. A khatian is a record of rights, not a title deed, and Bangladesh has several generations of them (CS, SA, RS and BS, each named after the survey that produced it), with mutation khatians recording changes in between. Inherited land often comes with records that disagree on spellings and areas. Our legal translation services keep every plot number and name identical from one record to the next.
Bengali medical translation goes both ways: clinic reports from Sylhet or Kolkata into English, NHS letters into Bengali (more on our medical translation services page). Firms with Bengali-speaking customers can have website translation and contracts priced the same way.
Professional Bengali Translators: Who Does the Work
Every Bengali job goes to a professionally qualified Bengali translator who works in that direction and knows the subject, and a second linguist checks it against the source before you get it. On Bengali paperwork that second read earns its keep on numbers. The script has its own digits, and a 17-digit registration number or a plot number is exactly where a tired reader slips.
Before hiring any translator, check two things: whether the ITI or CIOL counts them as a member, and how much Bangladeshi civil paperwork they have handled. Professional Bengali translators won't mind being asked.
How Much Does Bengali Translation Cost in Wembley?
A standard Bengali certificate, translated and certified, starts from about £35 per page. Longer documents, a run of land records or a family court statement for instance, are priced per word, and handwritten entries take longer to read. Send a scan and you'll normally have a fixed figure within the hour in UK office hours. For more on pricing, read the translation cost guide.
How Long Does a Bengali Translation Take?
A short standard Bengali document, such as a birth registration certificate or a nikah nama, usually takes one to two working days. A short one can sometimes come back the same day, subject to capacity (see same-day translation), so send it early. For a stack of khatians we name a delivery date when quoting.

Confidential Bengali Document Translation
Bengali document translation can reveal a lot about a family: passport and national ID numbers, land holdings, the terms of a marriage or a divorce. Only the people working on your order see the file, chiefly the translator and the linguist who checks the work. Personal data is handled in line with UK GDPR. If there is anything you would rather not email, say so and we'll agree a secure way to send it.
About Wembley
Wembley, in north west London, is best known for its major venues, but it is also a densely populated residential area with communities from right across the world. Alongside the crowds and events, everyday services here generate steady demand for interpreting and translation. Council and local authority teams deal with residents from many backgrounds, GP surgeries and clinics book appointments for patients with limited English, and schools and colleges support pupils and families who need language help. Local solicitors and legal firms rely on interpreters for immigration and family matters, and local businesses need documents translated for customers and suppliers. Prism Linguistics meets all of this with certified document translation, face-to-face interpreting, and telephone and video interpreting in more than 300 languages. Each assignment is handled by a qualified native-speaker linguist and independently checked by a second linguist before it goes out, keeping quality consistent. We treat all work as confidential and comply fully with UK GDPR. From the area around the stadium to the wider residential streets, we cover organisations throughout Wembley.

Bengali Translator Wembley FAQs
How much does Bengali translation cost in Wembley?
For a birth registration, a nikah nama or another standard certificate, certified Bengali translation starts from about £35 per page. Longer files are priced per word, and a fixed quote from your scan normally takes no more than one working hour.
Can you certify a Bengali translation for UKVI or the Home Office?
Certified Bengali translations from Prism carry a statement of accuracy on our letterhead that is signed, dated and stamped, and they are accepted by UKVI and the Home Office for family visa, settlement and citizenship files, as well as by HMCTS, HM Passport Office and UK universities.
How quickly can you translate a Bengali document?
Most short Bengali documents take one to two working days. A single page can go same-day, subject to capacity; land records get their own date.
Do I need to send my original Bengali documents?
No, we work from a decent scan, or a phone photo, of each page and certify from that. Keep the Bengali originals safe at home all the same, since a register office or HM Passport Office may ask to see them alongside it.
Do you translate English to Bengali as well as Bengali to English?
Both directions, yes. Native Bengali speakers translate into Bengali, native English speakers with fluent Bengali translate into English, and a second linguist checks each job before delivery.
My name is spelt differently on my Bangladeshi certificate and my passport. Is that a problem?
Usually not, as long as the translation follows the passport. Bengali names have no single romanised spelling, so Rahman on a passport may appear as Rohman on a certificate, and a certified Bengali translation uses the passport form. Tell us the spellings when you order and we can note any difference.

About the Bengali Language
Written Bengali, or Bangla, runs left to right in its own script, with its own set of digits, so dates and reference numbers on a certificate may not use the numerals an English reader expects. Romanisation has no fixed standard, so one family can appear as Rahman, Rohman and Rahaman, and HM Passport Office notes that Mohammed is spelt many ways in Bangladesh and that men's names may carry the prefix MD, with Mst common for women. Siblings can have different surnames, and a married woman may add her husband's after her own, so mismatches in one family file are not mistakes. Some papers carry a date in the Bangla calendar, whose year starts in mid-April; we give the Gregorian date alongside it.
