Tajik Translation Services in Southampton

In Tajikistan a marriage counts in law only once the state has registered it, and that rule decides which certificate we translate for a partner visa. The Home Office's country profile for Tajikistan says civil and religious marriages are both allowed, but only a marriage registered as a civil marriage is legal. A religious marriage paper on its own is unlikely to satisfy a caseworker, so send the registry certificate first. We can translate the religious one too if your solicitor wants it in the bundle.

Family applications bring in most of our Tajik translation services in Southampton. A spouse coming to join someone settled here must show the marriage certificate in English, and children who follow need their birth certificates done too. GOV.UK's family visa guidance says documents in any language but English or Welsh need a certified translation. Students follow with school-leaving certificates and diplomas. Asylum files are fewer, and can hold summonses or court decisions that must be translated in full, stamps included.

Then there are papers from before independence. Records drawn up in the Soviet years were often completed in Russian, so a grandparent's certificate and a grandchild's can arrive in one order in two languages. That's normal, and one translator keeps the names consistent across both.

English to Tajik Translator (and Tajik to English)

English to Tajik translation is ordered mostly by organisations that deal with people from Tajikistan. Farms and labour providers want contracts, house rules and safety inductions that a new seasonal worker can read on day one. NHS services ask for discharge letters or vaccination leaflets, and solicitors send a draft witness statement for a client to read through before signing.

One practical point. Some readers from Tajikistan are more at home with technical Russian than technical Tajik, so it's worth asking your workforce which they prefer before ordering a payslip guide. Work into Tajik goes to our Tajik translators who write it natively. Tajik to English is mostly individuals with certificates, and is handled by a native English writer fluent in Tajik.

Certified Tajik Translation for UKVI, Courts and Universities

With a certified Tajik translation you receive the complete English version plus our certificate on Prism letterhead, declaring that the English faithfully renders the Tajik original. We sign it, date it, stamp it and add our contact details. It comes as a PDF, and where an office still wants paper we post a printed set, tracked.

Translations certified like this satisfy the Home Office and UKVI, as well as HMCTS, UK universities and HM Passport Office. Britain has no sworn translators, so don't go looking for one. If a body wants an apostille on the Tajik original, getting it is your job or your solicitor's. We translate the apostille along with the document it is attached to.

Tajik Documents We Translate

These are the papers Tajik speakers and their advisers send us most often:

Police certificates deserve a note. Applicants for some health, social care and education jobs on the Skilled Worker route must supply a criminal record certificate from any country where they lived for 12 months or more as an adult in the past decade. For Tajikistan, GOV.UK says the Certificate of Good Conduct is requested through the Tajik embassy, costs £50 and takes six to eight weeks. Order the translation the day it lands.

Tajik Legal, Medical and Business Translation

Tajik legal translation is usually about family and money. Family Court bundles, an employment tribunal claim over unpaid wages, or probate where a late parent left a flat in Dushanbe all rely on dates, sums and names agreeing on every page. Our legal translation services handle the whole bundle, Russian pages too.

Tajik medical translation tends to be short and urgent: a child's vaccination history for a new school nurse, or a specialist's report a GP here needs in English. Longer clinical files go through our medical translation services. For a business selling into Tajikistan, see website translation.

Professional Tajik Translators: Who Does the Work

A Tajik translator has to read three things well: modern Tajik, Russian, and handwriting in Cyrillic. A Farsi specialist knows the grammar but may not read Cyrillic quickly, and a Russian specialist can stumble over the six letters Tajik adds to that alphabet. We pick a professionally qualified Tajik translator who suits the subject and works into their own language, then a second linguist reads the finished version against the source.

If you're choosing between agencies or freelancers, it is fair to ask if your candidate is an ITI or CIOL member, and how many papers from Tajikistan they've handled. A professional Tajik translator will answer both without fuss.

How Much Does Tajik Translation Cost in Southampton?

Certified translation of a standard Tajik certificate costs from about £35 per page. Contracts, statements and anything longer are priced per word. Send the scans by email in UK office hours; a fixed quote normally follows inside the hour. What pushes a price up or down is explained in our translation cost guide.

How Long Does a Tajik Translation Take?

Expect a single Tajik certificate back in one or two working days. When the deadline is tighter, ask about same-day translation, which we can offer for short documents, subject to capacity. Bigger jobs, say a tribunal bundle or an induction pack, get a delivery date in writing with the quote.

How to Order a Tajik Translation in Southampton

  1. Scan every page. Fronts, backs and separate stamp sheets. Tell us which office will receive the translation.
  2. List the passport spellings. For each person named, write the surname and forenames exactly as the current passport shows them. A fixed price and a delivery date follow.
  3. Receive your translation. We email the signed PDF and, if you ask, post a paper copy by tracked mail.

About Southampton

Southampton is a major port city on the south coast, with a large working harbour, a substantial student population and communities from all over the world. A city this connected needs reliable language support day in, day out. GP surgeries, health centres and clinics arrange appointments for patients with limited English, council and local authority services handle a steady stream of multilingual enquiries, and schools and colleges support pupils and families from many backgrounds. Local solicitors and legal firms use interpreters for client meetings and hearings, and businesses trading through the port need documents translated accurately for customs and contracts. Prism Linguistics provides certified document translation, face-to-face interpreting, and telephone and video interpreting in more than 300 languages. Every assignment is handled by a qualified native-speaker linguist and then checked by a second linguist, so quality is confirmed rather than left to chance. We work under UK GDPR and treat all material as confidential. From the waterfront and city centre to the surrounding districts, we cover organisations throughout Southampton.

Tajik Translator Southampton FAQs

How much does Tajik translation cost in Southampton?

Certifying a standard Tajik certificate costs from about £35 per page; we charge by the word for anything long. Scans emailed on a weekday during office hours usually earn a fixed price within the hour.

Can you certify a Tajik translation for UKVI or the Home Office?

Yes. Each certified Tajik translation ends with an accuracy certificate on Prism letterhead that we sign, date and stamp, a format UKVI and the Home Office accept. HMCTS, HM Passport Office and UK universities take the same document.

How quickly can you translate a Tajik document?

A Tajik birth or marriage certificate normally needs one or two working days. A short page may come back the same day if capacity allows; for bigger files the quote names a delivery date.

Do I need to send my original Tajik documents?

No. We translate Tajik documents from a clear scan, or a phone photo where every page is sharp and complete. Keep the originals, because the office deciding your application may ask for them next to our translation.

Do you translate English to Tajik as well as Tajik to English?

Yes, we work in both directions. English to Tajik jobs such as employment contracts, patient letters and witness statements go to a native Tajik writer, and a second linguist checks each one before delivery.

My surname ends in -ov on my passport but my child's certificate shows a different form. Is that a problem?

A different surname form on a Tajik certificate is not a problem if the translation explains it. Tajikistan has moved new birth registrations away from Russian-style endings such as -ov, so one family can hold two forms of the same surname. We translate each name as written and spell it as the relevant passport does, and can add a translator's note.

About the Tajik Language

Tajik is a variety of Persian, but on paper it parts company with Farsi and Dari: it is written left to right in Cyrillic, not right to left in Arabic script. The alphabet adds six letters to the Russian set, each a familiar letter with a bar, a tail or a macron, and a 1998 reform dropped four Russian letters used mainly in loanwords, so older and newer documents can spell the same word differently. Romanisation is loose. The Home Office profile notes that one Tajik letter may appear in English as j, dzh or zh, and another as h or kh. Surnames shift too. A 2016 rule stopped registry offices giving newborns endings such as -ov and -ev, and in 2020 the lower house of parliament voted to apply it to first identity documents as well, while adults could keep the names they already had. Whatever the certificate says, a certified translation should follow the passport.
