Uyghur Translator in Windsor
Need a Uyghur translator in Windsor? Prism Linguistics translates Uyghur letters, messages, statements and community papers into English, from Arabic-based script, Cyrillic or Latin, and covers the Chinese-language certificates that often sit in the same file. Certified translations for the Home Office, solicitors and universities start from about £35 per page.
Uyghur Translation Services in Windsor
A Uyghur client's paperwork usually turns up in two languages with nothing in common. Records issued by the state in China (the hukou booklet, a birth record, a marriage certificate) are written in Chinese characters, and those pages need a Chinese translator. A Xinjiang identity card may add Uyghur script beside the Chinese, but the Chinese is always there. The personal material is different. Letters from family, chat messages, a handwritten account of events, papers from a mosque or a community association: that's where our Uyghur translation services do most of their work.
Much of it supports protection claims. GOV.UK's asylum guide is plain on the point: every foreign language document has to be translated into English, and the translation must show who produced it. Claimants are also asked to email any evidence of persecution, and for a Uyghur claimant that might be a screenshot of a short exchange with a relative, or a single letter. We translate every line of it, dates, stamps and margin notes included.
Getting new papers from China is often not an option. Uyghurs abroad have reported that since around 2016 records such as academic transcripts and divorce papers have become close to impossible to obtain, so the documents a client already holds carry real weight. If part of a page can't be read, the translation says so rather than guessing.
English to Uyghur Translator (and Uyghur to English)
Uyghur to English translation, the direction most Uyghur files need, is done by a translator whose mother tongue is English and whose Uyghur reading is strong. Immigration solicitors, the Home Office, tribunals and individuals building a case all need the English version.
English to Uyghur translation runs the other way, written by a native Uyghur writer. A solicitor may want a client to read their statement in Uyghur before they sign it. A GP practice or a council might be writing to someone who reads Uyghur far better than English. The question to settle first is script. Readers schooled in Xinjiang expect the Arabic-based alphabet, while a Uyghur family from Kazakhstan may only read it in Cyrillic, so ask your reader before you order.
Certified Uyghur Translation for UKVI, Courts and Universities
A Uyghur translation certified by Prism consists of the English text and a statement of accuracy that the translator signs, which we date and stamp on Prism letterhead. GOV.UK's guidance on certifying a translation asks the translator to confirm accuracy in writing, date the translation and give a full name and contact details. Ours covers each point. Home Office caseworkers and UKVI accept it, as do courts under HMCTS, HM Passport Office, and university admissions offices across the UK. You receive a PDF, and paper follows by tracked post when an office asks for it.
The UK has no sworn translators; it relies on certification. Clients used to officials in China or Central Asia sometimes expect a notary's seal too, which the Home Office doesn't need. If another body insists on notarisation, that step is yours or your solicitor's, and we supply the certified translation in the form they ask for.
Uyghur Documents We Translate
Most Uyghur files mix languages, so tell us what each page is and we'll route it to the right translator. A typical order includes some of these:
- Uyghur immigration document translation: letters, messages and written statements that support an asylum claim or an appeal
- birth certificate translation for Uyghur families, usually from Chinese originals, with the Uyghur-script name on an identity card checked against it
- marriage certificate translation, from the Chinese state certificate and any religious marriage paper written in Uyghur
- degree certificates and school records for universities and employers
- Uyghur legal translation of witness statements, powers of attorney and court papers
- Uyghur medical translation of discharge letters, test results and prescriptions brought from abroad
- religious and community documents, poems, family histories and certificates from Uyghur associations
Chinese is on UK ENIC's translation waiver list for a Statement of Comparability, so a degree certificate from a university in China may not need translating for that purpose. Uyghur isn't on the list. Universities and employers set their own rules.
Uyghur Legal, Medical and Business Translation
In a civil claim in England and Wales, a witness who isn't comfortable in English gives their statement in their own language. Under Practice Direction 32 of the Civil Procedure Rules, the party relying on it must have it translated and file the original with the court, and the translator signs that original and certifies the translation. So a Uyghur witness's statement is drafted in Uyghur first. Our legal translation services cover such statements and tribunal bundles.
Medical work goes both ways. Hospital notes from abroad come into English for a GP, and NHS letters can go into Uyghur for a patient; see medical translation services. Business requests are rare. When they arrive it's usually a charity or a small firm writing for Uyghur readers overseas, which our website translation team handles.
Professional Uyghur Translators: Who Does the Work
There aren't many professional Uyghur translators in the UK, so we match each job to someone who reads the script in front of them. A professionally qualified Uyghur translator does the first draft, then a second linguist reads it against the source, line by line. On a statement that check covers dates, place names and every spelling of every person named.
Hiring someone yourself? Ask whether they belong to the CIOL or the ITI, and ask straight out whether they read both Arabic-based and Cyrillic Uyghur. A translator who only reads Chinese is the wrong choice for a family letter. One who only reads Uyghur can't help with the hukou.
How Much Does Uyghur Translation Cost in Windsor?
Certified Uyghur translation starts at about £35 per page for a short document like a single letter or certificate. A long statement or an exported message history is priced per word instead. Photos sent on a weekday within UK office hours normally bring a fixed quote inside the hour. Handwriting is fine, though a faint page takes longer to read. Our pricing is set out in the translation cost guide.
How Long Does a Uyghur Translation Take?
Plan on one to two working days for a short Uyghur document. For short documents, and subject to capacity, we can occasionally offer same-day translation. Long handwritten letters and months of messages take more time, and the quote gives you a date. If a Home Office deadline or a tribunal hearing is close, tell us at the start.

Uyghur Translator Near Me in Windsor
Searching for a Uyghur translator near me in Windsor rarely turns up anyone local, and that's normal for such a small language. Translation works from scans, so the translator can live anywhere in the UK and still email you a finished translation, ready for your solicitor, a register office or the Home Office. In practice, a Uyghur translator near you is the one who already has your photos.
Confidential Uyghur Document Translation
Uyghur document translation often involves the names of relatives still living in China, so we treat the file with care. Access is limited to the people working on it, normally the translator and the checker. We use secure file transfer, and personal data in your file is handled as UK GDPR requires. We send the translation to you or to the person you name, nobody else. If you'd rather not email something, ask and we'll find another way to get it to us.

Uyghur Translator Windsor FAQs
How much does Uyghur translation cost in Windsor?
A certified Uyghur translation of a short document is priced from about £35 per page, and longer material is priced per word. Send photos of every page during UK office hours and a fixed price normally comes back within the hour.
Can you certify a Uyghur translation for UKVI or the Home Office?
UKVI and the Home Office accept a Uyghur translation certified by Prism for asylum and visa files. Each one carries the translator's signed declaration of accuracy, our stamp and the date on Prism letterhead, a format that also works for HMCTS, HM Passport Office and any UK university.
How quickly can you translate a Uyghur document?
A single Uyghur letter, or a short document like it, normally takes one to two working days. Turning a short one round on the same day depends on capacity; long handwritten material is dated separately once we see it.
Do I need to send my original Uyghur documents?
No. Clear photos or scans are enough for a Uyghur translation, so originals that may be impossible to replace stay with you. Keep them safe, since a register office or the Home Office could still ask to see them.
Do you translate English to Uyghur as well as Uyghur to English?
Yes, Prism translates Uyghur in both directions. English to Uyghur is written by a native Uyghur writer in the script your reader uses, Arabic-based or Cyrillic, and Uyghur to English by a translator raised in English who reads Uyghur well. A second linguist checks both directions.
My documents from China are in Chinese. Do I need a Uyghur translator or a Chinese one?
Official records from China, such as the hukou booklet or a marriage certificate, are in Chinese and go to a Chinese translator, while letters and statements in Uyghur go to a Uyghur translator. Send the whole file in one order and we split it, keeping names consistent across both.

About the Uyghur Language
In China, Uyghur is written in an Arabic-based alphabet that runs right to left, the official script for the language in Xinjiang. Uyghurs in Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries mostly write it in Cyrillic, and a Latin alphabet known as ULY is used mainly on computers. Names cause the most trouble on paper. Most Uyghurs have no family surname; the second name is usually the father's given name. Chinese documents render a name in Chinese characters with a middle dot between its two parts, and the pinyin built from those characters can look nothing like the original, so one person can appear as two across a single file. A certified translation follows the passport spelling and can note the other forms.
